Researcher focuses on two major areas. The first is marketing to children and,the second is in relation to sustainability and consumption and how areas such as corporate social responsibility and business ethics can reconcile the tensions between business imperatives to make profit and social concerns to protect resources.

Minicurr\u00edculo:<\/i> Robert's current research focuses on two major areas. The first is marketing to children and, in particular, the ways in which commercialisation and the promotion of materialistic values are influencing the nature and experience of childhood. The second is in relation to sustainability and consumption and how areas such as corporate social responsibility and business ethics can reconcile the tensions between business imperatives to make profit and social concerns to protect resources. Looking at alternative business models, such as eBay, and how consumers can influence commercial and political decisions, such as through AVAAZ, are examples of Robert\u2019s wider social concerns.\n
Other areas of research interest include branding, and, in particular, place branding and the ways in which ownership and the representation of meaning are negotiated. He is also interested in culture and identity, ideology and hegemony, audience theory, symbolic consumption, popular culture, not-for-profit business, social marketing and service dominant logic (SDL).\nRobert was a prime mover, along with Associate Professor David Ballantyne, in establishing the Otago Forum. This international gathering of invited scholars discussed the implications for marketing of the newly emerged Service Dominant Logic (SDL). Papers from the first Forum are available in the Special Issue of Marketing Theory (v.6:3) for which Robert was lead editor.\nLeading papers from the second Forum focusing on the practical implications of SDL are available in the journal, Industrial Marketing Management. Robert co-convened the third Otago Forum which considered SDL and its role in a complex, changing and chaotic world the best papers from which were published in a Special Issue of the Journal of Marketing Management for which Robert was lead editor.\n
Robert is the proud co-recipient of the Judges and the People\u2019s Award for Best Film at the 2009 European Association for Consumer Research Conference and is looking forward to his next videographic research project.\n
Robert is in his third term as Chair of Age Concern, Otago and as Executive Board member of Age Concern, New Zealand where he chairs the Standards and Branding Committee. Robert is also an Executive member of the Third Age Trust and has recently been elected to the National Board of Consumer NZ. This privileged appointment provides the perfect opportunity for Robert to contribute his research expertise and social business commitment to championing the rights of consumers.\n
Robert was recently elected as president of the Australia and New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC) \u2013 an organisation considered a leading source of marketing information, knowledge and research development among marketing academics and practitioners from Australia, New Zealand and beyond.

Dr. James McGlothlin - Purdue University<\/h3>

He has over 300 peer-reviewed publications, government, and technical reports. Dr. McGlothlin is Professor Emeritus at Purdue University, and currently is a Professor of Epidemiology, received his B.A., in Industrial Psychology, an M.P.H. in Epidemiology, and M.S. degree in Environmental and Industrial health.

McGlothlin, MPH, Ph.D., CPE, FAIHA is a Certified Professional Ergonomist, Faculty Scholar, and Professor Emeritus of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Purdue University. Dr. McGlothlin is the former Director of the Graduate Program in Occupational and Environmental Sciences and the NIOSH Training Program Grant (TPG).
He created and directed Purdue\u2019s Ergonomics and Exposure Assessment Research Laboratory (P.E2A.R.L.) where his students have won several national and international awards for their research. Prior to his appointment to Purdue University, he was a senior researcher in ergonomics and industrial hygiene focusing on engineering controls with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC\/NIOSH). Dr. McGlothlin is known internationally for his ergonomics work and exposure assessment tools (known as Video Exposure Monitoring - VEM) that he invented and has three current patents. Dr. McGlothlin has over 300 peer-reviewed publications, government, and technical reports. He is the co-editor of the book titled: Occupational Ergonomics: Theory and Applications, now in its 2nd Edition

Chamindika Weerakoon is a University Lecturer and an Early Career Researcher in the field of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Prior to joining with the Swinburne University of Technology, she was an Associate Lecturer at RMIT University, Melbourne and a Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Management at the Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka. In her journey to be a strong education professional, she have earned a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) in Management from RMIT University, Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Commerce with a First Class from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Her teaching philosophy is guided by the fact that the educators should create learning environments where students experience the way of life of an entrepreneur allowing them to walk in the entrepreneur\u2019s shoes.
\nAs a researcher the driving principle of her research is that to develop a strong social enterprise and small business community, it is vital first to develop strong micro-foundations of venture behaviours. Hence, her research mainly focuses on examining how venture behaviours and choices trace back to their micro-level foundations in the social enterprise context. To this end, she take a theory building and testing approach that involves the intersection of theories across commercial entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship making a novel impact on the emerging social entrepreneurship research field.

The lecture will first define modern slavery as a global phenomenon,\nprevalent in complex international supply chains.  New legislation is emerging\nin many countries requiring organisations to provide supply chain\ntransparency on the steps they are taking to address this social sustainability\nissue.  Yet many have described this legislation as weak and are asking hard\nquestions about the effectiveness of the legislation to bring about real change\nin supply chains.  Research will be presented that looks at how companies are\nresponding to this legislation to address this issue. The actions taken include:\ntraining key employees to spot the signs; auditing suppliers to detect modern\nslavery; and then taking remedial actions to address any problems found.  This\nlecture will challenge consumers, organisations and researchers alike, as we\nall have a part to play in tackling modern slavery in our global supply chains.

Minicurr\u00edculo: <\/i>My main ongoing research interest is in Sustainable Supply Chain Management including: the resilience of local to global food supply chains in terms of environmental, social and economic sustainability; the impact of Modern Slavery Legislation; the influence of NGOs; and the role of horizontal supply chain collaboration. Other research interests include: workload control systems for make-to-order manufacturing companies offering high levels of product customisation; and the application of Six Sigma continuous improvement programmes in manufacturing and service industries.
