Online and presenting Presentations

Important information:

  • This year, there will be no prior submission of the presentation (ppt or recorded video).
  • The work will be presented by the authors who are present in the session.
  • Presentations at SemeAd will take place both online and in person. Below are some important details.

Instructions for presenting papers (in-person and online):

  • Presentations of theoretical essays, theoretical-empirical articles, and applied articles will last 15 minutes; teaching cases will last 10 minutes. After the presentation, there will be a brief discussion period.
  • Presentations of scientific articles, technological reports, and teaching cases must be in PowerPoint, and the formatting is free.

IMPORTANT: We recommend that participants read the papers in their session in advance and bring their contributions to discuss with the other authors.

Instructions for presenting papers (in-person):

  • It is recommended to bring your presentation on a flash drive and, for safety, keep a copy in your personal email.
  • To avoid delays, we ask that the presenting author arrive in the room 15 minutes before the session starts to prepare the presentation.

Instructions for presenting papers (online):

  • Compatibility test – To ensure proper participation, authors are advised to test system compatibility with their browser and equipment in advance. To run the test, access the link: https://zoom.us/test
  • Equipment – It is suggested that authors join using a computer and have more than one device available as a backup. Some connection and functionality issues related to devices and networks are unpredictable.
  • Link test – Test the session link in advance. We will open the link 15 minutes before the scheduled session time. During this period, authors can resolve any unexpected issues.
  • Moderation – Sessions will have a moderator who will be responsible for organizing the session.
  • Presentations – Authors are advised to keep their presentation open on their desktops or other devices. This will facilitate the process when it’s time to present and share the screen.
  • Avoid overloading the system – Use few windows/tabs in your browser and keep few programs/apps open on your device to make screen sharing easier during your presentation and to avoid system overload.
  • Identification – Identify yourself to the session moderator at the beginning, indicating that you are present and stating the title of your work.
  • Zoom platform controls – When requested, turn on your microphone and camera and share your presentation screen. It is recommended that all participants keep their microphones muted during others’ presentations.

Notes:

  • Registration is individual and non-transferable.
  • Publication of accepted works (theoretical essays, theoretical-empirical articles, applied articles, and teaching cases) in the SemeAd proceedings is conditional on the registration payment by at least one of the authors.
  • Authors with accepted and registered works commit to having at least one author attend the conference and present the work.
  • Failure to appear to present a registered work will prevent the author(s) from submitting works to the subsequent event.
  • Authors cannot choose the date and time of their presentations in advance. The schedule will follow the plan set by SemeAd’s Scientific Coordination.
