The SemeAd Doctoral Consortium invites PhD students to submit doctoral thesis proposals in the following areas: Public Administration, Agribusiness, Entrepreneurship, Organizational Strategy, Organizational Studies, Teaching and Research, Finance, Innovation Management, Human Resource Management, Social and Environmental Management, Marketing, Operations, and Information Technology.

The proposals will be evaluated by the thematic leaders of the Doctoral Consortium, who will select those most suitable, considering the stage of development of each project. Submissions must fall into one of the two categories described below:

Category 1 – Pre-Qualification Stage:

Intended for PhD students who have not yet taken their qualification exam but already have a clearly defined topic, research problem, and objectives. The project is expected to contain an initial theoretical foundation, with a brief literature review (to be further developed), as well as the main methodological elements, even if in a preliminary stage and subject to improvement.

Note: Although these are pre-qualification stage projects, excessively exploratory proposals or those lacking a clear definition of topic, research problem, and objectives will not be recommended.

Suggested timing in the program: generally in the second year of the PhD.

Category 2 – Post-Qualification Stage:

Recommended for PhD students who have recently completed their qualification exam. Projects in this category must present a clearly defined topic, research problem, and objectives, a robust literature review (including well-established theoretical and conceptual models), and a structured methodological design — with defined research methods, data collection instruments, and analysis techniques.

Note: Proposals that have already completed all data collection and are in the analysis stage are not recommended. In such cases, submission as a full paper within the traditional event programming is advised.

Suggested timing in the program: generally at the beginning of the third year.

The Doctoral Consortium activities will take place exclusively in person, at FEA-USP (São Paulo), on Tuesday, November 11, in the morning period. The detailed schedule will be announced in due course.

Submission deadline: July 13, 2025, according to the general submission timeline of SemeAd.

Benefits offered to selected PhD students:
  • Exemption from the event registration fee, which also grants access to other in-person activities beyond the Consortium.
  • One-night hotel accommodation from November 10 to 11, in a hotel designated by the event organization, for PhD students residing outside the city of São Paulo. Airfare and additional accommodations are the responsibility of the participant.
  • Certificate of presentation of the work.
  • Award for the best thesis project presented in each category, including a certificate of recognition for the advisor and the graduate program of the awarded PhD student. Honorable mentions will be given to the 2nd and 3rd place in each category.
  • A post-event mentoring session with the thematic leader and/or invited professor for the PhD students awarded as best projects in each category.
